From The Desk of The Editor-in-ChiefSEPTEMBER 2021 NEWSLETTER | Dear Colleagues, It
is a pleasure to present the Journal newsletter for September 2021. I
would like to appreciate the authors, reviewers and the two Colleges for
their continued support in making the West African Journal of Medicine
(WAJM) outstanding. WAJM VOLUME 38, NUMBER 8, AUGUST 2021 The
print copies of the August edition are available at the West African
Journal of Medicine (WAJM) office at 6, Taylor Drive, Edmund Crescent,
Medical Compound, Yaba, Lagos State. Corresponding authors have been
sent their complimentary copies by courier service. Authors and those
interested in copies of this edition can request at the journal office
or send an email to wajmeditorinchief@gmail.com. ADVERT Advertise
your brand, products and events (conferences, exhibitions and
workshops) in our esteemed journal and reach out to healthcare
professionals and institutions worldwide. For advert placement, kindly
contact the Editor-in-Chief for details (email: wajmeditorinchief@gmail.com). WEBSITE The new journal website is now accessible online and the web address is http://www.wajmed.com.
It is also possible to submit manuscripts online on the website. For
online submissions, the following process should be followed: 1. Click on register (on the top right-hand corner of the webpages) and provide all the information requested. 2. Then, click on “make a submission” on the right-hand side of the web pages and follow the instructions provided. | | 3. Conclude your submission as shown below. | | Those who are finding it difficult to submit online could continue to submit through email or contact us for assistance. The journal can, however, still be accessed through the following media: • Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/wajmedic) • Twitter (https://www.twitter.com/wajmedic) • The Blog (https://wajmeditor.blogspot.com) INQUIRIES/COMPLAINS I
have received some complaints from authors. The big challenge is that
we are having difficulty getting willing reviewers and those who will
follow the peer review process to a conclusive end. In
order to minimize this effect, authors are advised to suggest two
reviewers from their discipline/field, from institutions other than
theirs. Please send their details including their names, email, phone
number and institutions to the Editor-in-Chief. This
will impact on our reserve/reviewers bank. However, the
Editor-in-Chief, at his discretion, reserves the right to make a final
decision on this. For inquiries and complaints, please call or send a WhatsApp message to +2348068925934. | | | UPDATES - The
journal is expanding to accommodate current issues, clinical
perspectives, conference and workshop reports, patient vignettes,
medical and health news and short communications in various fields of
medicine and surgery. We would like to encourage authors to send in
articles in these categories.
- We
would also like to invite scholars to contribute to a CME column which
would make the journal more functional to our junior colleagues
globally.
- We welcome suggestions and ideas on how to improve the quality of the journal.
- We
would like to apologize to authors for the delay in the publication
process. This is largely due to the peer reviewer process. We will
continue to strive to overcome this challenge.
