Dear Colleague,

I am delighted to present the January maiden edition of the Journal for 2024. I extend my sincere appreciation to the authors, reviewers, proofreaders, the two colleges (West African College of Physicians and West African College of Surgeons), and our dedicated staff for their unwavering support, contributing significantly to the journal's ongoing progress, especially in this difficult and challenging time in our nation and globally.

This edition is regrettably delayed due to unforeseen challenges, socio-economic challenges, and the impact of the economy on the production and publishing processes.

As we roll out the editions for this year, our teams are fully engaged and committed to growth and consistent production throughout the year. We are making aggressive moves to further raise the bar of the quality, impact, and reputation of the journal. We remain committed to enhancing the journal's relevance and significance within the global medical community.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we strive to make valuable contributions to the field.

WAJM VOLUME 40, NUMBER 12, DECEMBER  2024

This edition is currently at the collation stage of the printing process and will soon be available at the West African Journal of Medicine (WAJM) office, located at 6 Taylor Drive, Edmund Crescent, Medical Compound, Yaba, Lagos State. However, the e-copy has been sent to the corresponding authors.

Kindly be informed that from January 2024, manuscripts accepted for publication will be rescheduled for the subsequent edition if publication fees are not settled within the designated payment period. As we kick off the new year, our teams are fully engaged, and we're excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. In our upcoming newsletter, we aim to provide updates to our authors, reviewers, and stakeholders regarding our plans and anticipated changes, including adjustments to submission and publication fees.
