Dear Colleague,

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each of you for the invaluable role you have played in the continued success of the West African Journal of Medicine (WAJM) over the years. Your dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment have been instrumental in ensuring the steady monthly publication of the journal and its impact within the medical community.

In line with our commitment in previous communications, we are pleased to announce that the backlog of 2024 publications has been successfully cleared. The January 2025 edition is now published. Work on the February and March 2025 issues is progressing simultaneously, and both editions are scheduled for release within the next two weeks.

Our editorial and production teams remain fully dedicated, implementing strategic measures to enhance the journal’s relevance, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen its global visibility.

CALL FOR REVIEWERS

I kindly seek the continued support and cooperation of our esteemed reviewers. Your role is crucial in upholding the high academic and professional standards that define WAJM. Therefore, I appeal to you to prioritize any pending manuscript reviews and submit your recommendations at the earliest opportunity.

To further enhance the quality of our peer-review process, we are actively seeking, enthusiastic, and dedicated reviewers across all specialties. We welcome individuals who are willing to contribute their expertise and commit to reviewing manuscripts within the designated time frame.

If you are interested in joining our pool of reviewers—or if you know someone who might be—we encourage you to reach out to me directly.

CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION FOR REVIEWERS

We would like to take this opportunity to inform our esteemed reviewers that the journal has deemed it fit to recognize and appreciate those who have remained dedicated to our mission over the years. In particular, reviewers who have evaluated at least three manuscripts will receive a Certificate of Recognition as a token of our appreciation.

We believe this certificate will be valuable for administrative records and will enhance your academic CV.

Kindly submit your full name and institutional affiliation for the issuance of the certificate..

MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION – CALL FOR PAPERS FOR SPECIAL EDITION

We are pleased to announce a proposal to publish a special edition of the journal dedicated to showcasing breakthroughs in medicine, surgery and related sub-specialties. This edition presents a valuable opportunity to contribute meaningfully by sharing your groundbreaking research findings and clinical insights with the broader medical community—not only in West Africa, but also globally.

We invite you to submit your manuscript for consideration. Please note that slots for this edition are limited and submissions will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Furthermore, accept submissions of original research, case reports, systematic reviews, and expert opinions spanning diverse medical disciplines. We also consider abstracts presented at various conferences for publication. Authors can rely on our editorial team for a seamless peer-review process and prompt, constructive feedback.

MOVING FORWARD

I remain optimistic about the future of WAJM. With your continued collaboration, we will not only overcome existing challenges but also elevate the journal to new heights of academic excellence and global recognition.
